A few hundred feet from our Ram’s Village apartment is a canal. Every week it rises due to the frequent and torrential downpours, and possibly from the snow run-off. The muddy, murky water is deep and runs fast. I don’t think it’ll be long before it crests and begins to flow beyond it’s banks.
Texas is parched, desperate for moisture while Colorado has more water than it knows what to do with. Rivers all over the state are higher than they’ve been in hundreds of years. Water – everywhere here – abundant, bounteous, plenteous, replete, sufficient.
Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.”
He uses such abundant, bounteous, plenteous, replete, sufficient language to describe how He can, and will, quench that deep inner thirst. Do you yearn for more? Respond to His invitation to come and drink. Absorb all you can from Him and His Word, and experience His promise of rivers of living water freely flowing in, through, and around your heart.
“The Lord’s chief desire is to reveal Himself to you and in order for Him to do that, He gives you abundant grace. The Lord gives you the experience of enjoying His presence. He touches you, and His touch is so delightful that, more than ever, you are drawn inwardly to Him.” -Jeanne Guyon
